How to fit a light shade?

I have moved into a new flat and its wired with energy saving lights through the whole flat. I cant seem to fit light shades in none of the room this is because the whole on the light shade is smaller then the one on the light where it sits.

I have tried different shades but they all have standard wholes which do not fit on the lights .

there is a metal ring attached to each light. Can someone help and advise me please.
