Mend Bathroom Basin Tap

bathroom basin tap?

the sink basin tap turns on, but won't always turn off, so the tap is just full on, now a friend fitted a replacement tap washer and it was okay for a day or so but now its back to square one, any Ideas? do I need a new tap? help!

D.I.Y, Plumbing Bathroom Basin Tap

If a new washer worked for a couple of days only, then the tap seating may be damaged. I would suggest a new tap as they can be obtained quite cheaply.
