I am trying to upgrade my hdd. Can anyone give some advice on how I can do this? i.e. can I get to the hdd from under the keyboard, or do I need to remove the bottom of the laptop etc.
Thanks for your replies. I found the hdd piggybacked on top of the floppy drive. It wasn't where I was expecting it to be at all! Kept thinking this is far to difficult just to replace the hdd and had a fresh look at all the components. It was actually very easy in the end!

The problem is that they are all different. For instance the hard drive in my IBM ThinkPad is in a small caddy that is held in place by one screw. So changing the hard drives on most (if not all) ThinkPads is really easy.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that someone might have been through this ordeal and could give some pointers. I've taken half the laptop apart and was thinking it seemed like a lot of hard work to swap the hdd.

Why not see if DSG (Dixons, etc) can help. Advent is one of their brands. They even have help desks in PC World.
