zanusi fl1032 replace control knob?

The bit you hold to turn the knob to select the programs has a plastic bit that needs releasing in the side and then you turn it anticlock to release.if however the cam knob behind has broken you have to hold the knod with a pair of pliers and pull it straight off.this may break but is the only way and was always a bone of contention when you had to break bits to gain access to others!
