Mend Hotpoint WF840 Washing Machine Program Start

how can i fix my hotpoint washing machine WF840?

i switch my machine on and select the program but when i press start the word "test" comes up on the display, the machine then does 2 very short cycles lasting only seconds then stops. i'm wondering whether i have accidently pressed something or do i have an electrical failure of some sort
