Engine keeps cutting out?

Hi I have a Vauhall Vecta 2.2 D on a 04 plate. the problem I have is my engine keeps cutting out for no reason. This 1st happend about 2yrs ago and a vacuum rubber pipe had split fine for 2 yrs the it has started again. All pipes are ok I have had it in to Vauxhall garage for 2 days nothing was found ran for 500 miles then cut out. if you leave it swithed off for 2-3 mins everything is fine again till next time. Can anybody help
