double glazed door repair?

We have inherited an old Double glazed front door that needs adjusting as it catches on the bottom and does not line up correctly to close and open. There are just two hinges and the each have a hex hole to screw left or right. If you turn it clockwise it gets tight if anticlockwise it just gets looser, I suspect it would fall out if I kept unscrewing but it does not appear to make any difference whichever way I turn it, to the hang of the door.
Any ideas welcome..
