Mend Peugeot 406 Ideas

How can I fix the boot catch on my peugeot 406?

The boot catch on my Peugeot 406 will not catch! The mecahanism looks as if it off centre and has been knocked downwards. Any ideas?

I have same problem but cant see a way of getting to the nut heads without dismantling half the car. It seems like a pinched end of 2 bolts protruding. Am I missing something?

take the catch off and re-drill the holes to make a slot, then adjust the bracket till it closes,

or

hit it with a lump hammer
