I have owned this unit for 2 1/2 years and it has been brilliant. This week the vhs display indicated that the tape was recording as normal, but when I tried to rewind and then play it became apparent the tape had not been functioning. Today the unit accepts the tape but then makes a 'knocking' sound and the tape does not function and is automatically ejected?

They may just tell you to take it to a repair shop. don't be suprised afte all they can't inspect it my email/phone. Or mybe say what the think it is and still tell you to take it to a shop. If it is manufacture fault /defect then you MIGHT have a claim against Panasonic but you will have to produce purchase receipt. This rule of law may only cover those fault KNOWN by Panasonic to exist.
