Mend Hotpoint TDC60 Tumble Dryer Sensor Drum

Broken sensor unit?

My Hotpoint TDC60 has a sensor unit inside the drum. It is a round, metallic disk about 5cm in diameter, mounted on a plastic base, bolted to the side of the drum.

The metallic part has snapped off. As there is no electrical connection to it, I can't see what it is for.

Can someone please explain?
