Mend Toyota Lucida Noise Car Cold Start

Toyota Lucida. noise, whirring? intermittent?

Hi, especially in the cold I often start the car and there is an an extra noise for about 20 to 30 seconds. It sounds like a whirring noise to me. Sometimes the noise will come on again as described above. Any ideas what is making the noise? L reg auto diesel Lucida. Paul.
