How can i fix my car?

I have a 51 renault clio in which i hear a gushing noice (like water runing) every now and then coming from near the glove box. When driving the other day my red warning light came on, i called out the aa but they found nothing wrong with the car. The car is not over heating or leaking water its very strange. Can any 1 help or know what it could be? Or where to get it fixed/how much it cost. Im useless with cars so wud have to go to garage.
