well the cdi is not really testable unless you have a manual thst gives you an ohms values reading for it.the pulse coil can be checked if its working by getting an l.e.d and wiring it to it.if it has 2 wires then try the led on it around both ways and see if the led flashes a bit when you turn the engine over.yiou will need to try both ways as an led is a diode and will only ever light up around one way.if it has one wire then put one of the led wire to it and the other to earth try both ways as before.the seondary ignition coil should have an earth to one of the lt leads and a alternating live/neutral to the other one.you really need a power probe to check this.the ignition switch can be disconnected and then try to push the quad a bit in gear to see if the plug sparks while its resting on the head or similar metal part.now does this quad have a switch on a brake that has to be operated to make it start usually like a locking foot or hand brake that requires a lever to be set to hold the brake on to start it up.and does it have a rip cord switch on the back of it to ?i have also seen quads that have a tilt sensor fitted so they cut out when they are upside down ,but these tilt sensors go wrong and send the kill signal to the cdi even when its up the right way.
