tried taking the handles of as suggested and scraping it of gently but just looks bad,,,, then tried to buy a new handle and couldnt get the same one,,,, end result,,, replaced ALL the upstairs handles to new ones lol

The trouble with brass is that it tarnishes - so they polish it bright and spray it with clear lacquer. If you get paint on the handle you can remove it either mechanically or chemically - trouble now is that in removing the paint you may well remove the lacquer too and the brass may tarnish.
Chrome does not suffer this drawback.
I would wait for the paint to harden off (at least a week) remove the handle from the door and use the back of a kitchen knife to gently flake the paint off. I would not expect a perfect result - but you never know.
