Slick MP3,# MP316C2,I plug in the USB, it lights up & won't work?

I saw your "how to mend it" on the net and wanted to ask if you could help my situion?
I also purchased a "Slick MP3 player from Family Dollar. It's a 2GB USB, Model # MP316C2.
I have a laptop with Windos XP. I plug in the USB MP3 player, it lights up, but it does not recognize it at all. I then went to "my computer", "Properties", "Device Manager" It shows up under "Other Devices" with a question mark. A dotted line off that to another ? with an exclamation point and the name of the device. "HS USB Flash Disk" When I double click on that it comes up and in the "general" tab, it states The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver. I hit the "Reinstall Driver"
The "Hardware update wizard comes up, thinks for a while, then the window comes up, "Cannot Install this hardware" it says it could not find necessary software.
