You can either make a tool too fit into the three legs of the brake mechanism and load it, or you can remove the clutch and sprocket, this will then allow you to re fit the brake onto the saw, and use the hand guard to load the brake, the clutch is a left hand thread, there is a two pin tool which fits into the clutch which allows you to jar it off against compression.
