Maytag Timer Problems?

I have a model MDE 9606AYW Maytag Quiet Plus Dryer.
The timer quit. Ordered a new one and replaced it. It would not function. Placed another in and it will not function. It is possible to set the timer and start the dryer, but the timer/clock does not function. It is necessary to manually stop the dryer when clothes are dry.

Sounds like the wires are wrongly placed. Check inside the panel for a wiring diagram. Locate the timer on the diagram & it will tell you which colour wire goes where.
