Mend Boot Problem Opens

how do i fix the boot not opening problem ?

my boot on many occasions sticks and partly opens and i,m geeting a bit tired of using the inside of the car just to get the boot opened, i took it twice now to get it fixed and the mechanic said it just need cleaning out, but this cost me £50 is there any way of releasing it myself.

I could tell you how to fix it but I would have to guess what car you have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
