Mend Hotpoint BF71 Dishwasher Error Code Water Leak

Hotpoint BF71 error code F water leaked in from sink?

Tap was left on and small amount of water has leaked into the top control panel of dishwasher as it was slightly ajar. Dishwasher will not work, tries to start filling with water when the door is open then changes to 'F' on the screen. Pump is trying to work but when door is shut nothing happens.

Any ideas anyone? I'm lost without it :-)

I had the same error code F and noticed that with the door open the pump continued to run. By closing the door I found that after a good few minutes the dishwasher sounded like it was progressing through its cycle and so left it to complete. After opening the door again, '0' appeared in the display and the dishwasher seemed to be back to normal again.
