intermittent engine managment light. ?

Hi , my vectra 1.8 sxi has developed an annoying fault which occurs occasionally, when I drive my car there will be a small stutter from the engine the management light will then come on. Sometimes it will go out , there is no loss in power, however when I come to a halt the engine will stall.I think a sensor is playing up . Any ideas cheers.
