ABS fault...Picasso?

'ABS Fault warning...non-function' has been on now for days...car has been sat at Trewicks accident repair for weeks. Brakes feel awful...nearly sent my small kids through the window tryin to stop. Is it really dangerous to carry on driving it, and can it be fixed easily, or do i have to take it in?....again!!!
Thanks
Clare

An accident repair centre will not sort a problem like that, they only do bodywork/structural damage. Mechanical problems will need do be dealt with elsewhere. If you think its related to your accident ask your insurance about sorting it.

It could be around a £100 bill

ABS RING IS A SIMPLE DEVICE, BUT CAN BE A VERY TIME CONSUMING JOB. IT MAY NOT BE CHEAP IF THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM. PART IS CHEAP, LABOUR IS EXPENSIVE

so do you think i should take it back to Trewicks? or at least speak to them before i put it in the garage? Sorry if im being bit daft but dont want anyone else taking the mick, as ive had to deal with Kwikfit all winter when they changed coils, then shocks....and everytime i left the garage something else was wrong!

an accident could quite easily have split the ring. Mine happened just going over a bump. when the ring is old it can crack at any time.

Someone crashed into it in the snow back in Nov...they were fitting a new rear door. Has taken them nearly 3 weeks, like. So am guessing the car has just bin sat frozen for nearly 2 of them, could that have something to do with it?? It had all new brake pads and discs etc fitted back in September-time.

could be a cracked abs ring, if indeed your car uses that system. It's a cog like device that rotates with the cv joint, and a sensor recognises the cogs passing through it. If a cog is missing it will detect as a fault and can cause abs to kick in each time you brake.

Needs sorting really. Wouldn't pass an MOT like it. Why was it at Trewicks?
