Hi Dave - Don't know if you have solved your problem about E1 error code. Hotpoint say that there is no such code on their dishwashers!! I have asked a question re a flood tray that keeps filling with water and my machine not working. It appears that there is a float switch in this tray that stops the machine working when it has water in it. When the machine stops it shows the error code E1. On my machine the water is leaking from a plastic unit fixed to the side of the machine (under the side panel) and is filling the tray up and stopping the machine. I removed the water by tipping the machine forward slightly onto some towels to catch the water - switched on and 'hey presto' machine working. I have just sealed the leak (I hope) and will try it out tomorrow. Hope this helps.
