Mend Dishwasher Cleaning Quiet

How to get my dishwasher to start washing? ?

Dishwasher is not washing, Heats the water, sounds like it will start for just a fraction of a second, the goes quiet. The timer works, as does the water heater, just no water shooting around doing the cleaning. Any ideas
