Ford 1600 engine cuts out after 2 minutes?

I have a 1974 Ford Capri 1600 Mk1 Facelift, standard. It has done a genuine 78,000 miles, has been dry-stored for 10 years and starts easily, but after running nicely for about 2 minutes it splutters & dies whatever is done with manual choke. It will re-start but struggles & will cut out. If left to cool down it will start again easily and performs in exactly the same way. Hoping you can assist, thanks.
