Mend Hotpoint WD860 Error Code Water Heater Washing Machine

Hotpoint WD860 water heater element?

The water heater element on my Hotpoint WD860 has gone open circuit, popping up error code F 07. Trouble is I cannot get the old one out. I've undone the nut ontop of the earth tab and loosened it from the rubber seal. I cannot see how it 'slides' out. Any help/suggestions much appreciated.
