timming a 5hp briggs and stratton?

There will be a timing mark on the crank and cam shafts that should look like a punch mark-when you line these up your piston should be at top of cylinder and both valves should be closed.
They sometimes also sometimes put two marks on one shaft and one on the other-in that case the single mark should line up between the double marks.
