The trigger switch is not working?

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care Imperial SeriesII top loader washing machine. The trigger switch on the right hand side stopped working so I took it apart and fixed it initially but a small metal U shaped piece and a small spring have come loose and I cannot figure where they go.
