Mend Whirlpool LSR7233EQ0 Knob Cycle

Whirlpool LSR7233EQ0 TIMER KNOB ISN'T CATCHING?

I push in the timer knob and turn to the desired cycle setting, then pull it out, but it's not activating the timer control. Like it's stripped or something. Any ideas?
