after bleeding a radiator we topped the water up as the pressure gauge had dropped it is now showing in the red area.How do we get the gauge back down in the grey area?

ensure that both the filler taps are turned off, PROPERLY (if not boiler will continue to receive water )then vent excess pressure out through a radiator air bleed point, old rag will be helpful with the spillage.
