whats wrong with my 1998 escort 55d van ?

Hi Susan, Is it a TDI (with turbo) as they have an anti stall valve linked with hoses onto the throttle valve and the air filter housing lid.

could be fuel filter head [if it is the one with primer on it]air leak ,causing fuel to run back over night,also check pipes down back of engine for chafing causing pin hole in them also if none of these it could be metal pipes on fuel tank corroded where main pipes fit.[ may be part of tank unit.]
