my tefal steam generator iron is not heating?

Hi there, I have the same iron as you and they are brilliant! (When they work) I bought mine 15 years ago and have had great service from it, ironing for 4 kids day in, day out! Mine has just failed, although in a different way to yours; my iron heats fine but the water tank will not heat up. I have spoken to Tefal service centre in Birmingham (0121 200 2740) who told me that, as the iron is so old, the only spare part available for it is the thermostat, which may be your problem. If it's anything else it's not repairable, according to them.

Hope this helps you. I have bought a new iron but it's not a patch on the old one.
