worcester heatslave 20/25 central heating but no hot water?

Hi, my central heating works fine, but no hot water. I had to turn the hot water dial to off, because when the boiler went off it would not start up again, so I would have to push the rest button under the control panel. If I keep the hot water dial on off the boiler works fine.
Anyone got any ideas?

Hi, The boiler is 2004 the actuator is a HONEYWELL VC4613-3 which I think has the cartridge 87161051320.
Do you think its worth me getting a cartridge and giving it ago. I will say thank you, as what you have said has made it all alot clearer to me now. All my reserch leads to what you have said.

Hi Paul;I think you have a problem with your boilers actuator valve.These boilers prioritise hot water and yours must have siezed in the heating on position.Depending on what year your boiler is,it will have either an electronic actuator head (synchron motor) or >2002, a cartridge/piston valve,part no.87161051320.Which type is yours?
