Mend Philips Model Pc Monitor Exactly

How do I get inside a 'PHILIPS' PHP X19 Model 900W PC Monitor?

I have the above monitor and it is exactly 3yrs old. It has now developed the common problem of going into standby when switched on. As has been widely reported it could be the power supply which is at fault. As an electronics engineer, I'd like to have a go at fixing this. Problem is gaining access. I have removed the stand and the two small screws at the lower rear panel. There are four narrow slots on the lower edge where a blade can be inserted to separate the rear casing, supposedly. This does not seem to work and I don't want to use excessive force and damage the unit. Has anyone else opened this monitor? Any help would be most appreciated.

There is nothing behind the 'melted' spot but there are a lot of clips, four on each edge, all the way round the case.

The plastic does not cover a screw...

Hi David, thanx for your posting. The only thing I havn't tried yet to get inside is to look at the small seemingly melted plastic 'spot' right in the centre of the rear cover. It could be covering up another screw and has been put there to make the unit 'tamperproof'. I think this could be removed with a hot soldering iron to see if this is true. At the moment, I'll wait a little longer to see if anyone else posts a message to inform us. I'll keep in touch.

I've just trying to look at the same thing trying to see if there is anything that needs replacing!

After 3 years the screen started turned on then would go off 1st to a very dark grey, then after repeated booting up attempts when it went off it was black. Now it doesn't even turn on. Checked out graphics cards and ram were seated correctly, but this was not a problem and the computer is running OK so problem is the VDU.

Look forward to hearing if you find a way in!

Cheers
