josh, it sounds to me a lack of fuel. try checking ALL the fuel lines for cracks, see if there is a trace of fuel ( outside drips) not knowing what machine you have, it may be your intank filter,if you have one remove the gas cap and you will see a fuel line take a piece of wire and fish the hose through the gas opening and see if you do have a filter, it may be clogged.most have intank filters yours might have fallen off and clogged the carb.
