Hotpoint BCI450 dishwasher's programme options not working?

My Hotpoint BCI450 dishwasher's programme options aren't working. I filled the dishwasher as normal and went to select the programme but it was stuck on the 'normal' wash and wouldn't let me move on from there. So I shut the machine hoping it would do a normal wash, it started beeping like crazy then started working for about 1 minute before it stopped. Now, after pulling the power plug out of the mains for 30 mins, it's not showing any lights at all on the programme options. I've tried pulling the power socket out of the mains a few times but it's still not doing anything. What's gone wrong and how can I fix it?
