Mend Kitchen Lighting Halogen

no power to halogen spotlight?

3 spotlights not working in my kitchen;they are connected direct hence no transformers. checked back of switch with screw driver electric tester, there is power but the same red cable connected to the spotlight reveals no power when tested with the same srewdriver. what could be the problem.

A break in the cable, or being insulated from earth when testing the cable at the light (those neon screwdrivers work by using your body as a path to earth to complete the circuit).
