Hi, I have just had the same thing happen. It is likely to be one of the bearings has packed up. It's not as easy to get the fan off as you think. You need to undo the two bars up the front with the twin nuts on top. Then there a small bolt just behind the fan to take off. Then remove the top assembly front just above the cast iron part and lift it clear. You should then be able to dismantle the motor and get to the bearings. I flicked mine a few times and got it going for a few more days, but it eventually packed up tonight 8th Feb. So, in my case I need a new fan - does anyone know where I can get one cheaply and easily ?
many thanks
Pablo
