Accenta Alarm G3 wont alarm after turning power off?

Hi there.. might be coincidental however our Accenta G3 alarm wont seem to alarm now after we turned the power off the other day to do some work to the electric lights, sockets in the house.

Everything lights up fine, and we have managed to change the code on the console too, so that is working. However when we now try setting the alarm.. it just lights up Zone 1 and Zone 2 and just keeps beeping.. but never goes to actually setting the alarm.. on entering the code all is okay.

From what ive read it could have been the battery and the system is in some failsafe mode or something.. but would like some clarification if possible?
