Mend BMW 316i Sport Light Start

I have a BMW 316i sport 2004. The airbag light ?

The air bag light has been coming on after you start up then eventually goes out, but now it stays on all the time. My friend has had alook and has done away with the connectors under the seats an soldered the wires together but it still stays on, any ideas anyone please?
