can i put a higher amp fuse in microwave as i can not find a 0.8 amp ?

my microwave fuse went its a 0.8 amp glass fuse can i replace with a higher amp glass fuse and the one thats gone is 40mm long and i can only find fuses 30 mm long will it be ok many thanks pam help please

As well as checking the 0.8 amp you should also be looking on the old fuse for the voltage. This is most important. I suspect that the 40mm 0.8 amp fuse you are looking at is the high voltage fuse. Is it inside a plastic tube with two thick wires? If so then those high voltage fuses often run on 2.5K volts. That is 2 & a half thousand volts. A normal 230 volt fuse will be useless. This sort of voltage will easily kill you if you don't know what you are doing. Be very careful.

30mm may not fit - too short to make both connections.

A higher rating is dangerous - in very extreme circumstances I might temporarily replace an 800mA with 900mA or even a 1A fuse for testing perhaps but the designer will have specified a specific rating for a reason. Under no circumstances should you consider using a regular plug-top fuse.
