How do I fix Eureka Capture?

I bought a new Eureka Capture. Worked great for 3 trips around the living room. Bar fell off the bottom and now won't pick anything up. Service center TOO far away to make it worth my while to travel. Specific instructions in manual to not return to store where purchased.
