how to change the gas filter on ryobi gas trimmer?

the filter is attached to the inside of the gas tank. how is this changed?

feed thin wire from outside tank and thru filler
stick wire thru end of hose
pull wire and hose and filter thru hole to carb side
slide retaining ring over nozzle
