Hotpoint Aqurius 1000 (WD23) - Drum Bearing replacement?

dear all, our washer-dryer has been noisy on the spin cycle for sometime. now the drum has great difficulty in turning even without the drive belt. there seems too be to much lateral movement in the drum and the sound of crushed ball bearings in the inner race. the bearing veiwed from the rear of the machine looks fine apart from ozzing brown sludge. is it possible that there is an inner bearing, and if so is it possible to change this without the help of harry potter?

thanks rs. the machine is out of warranty, so i would do the repair myself. as there seems to be no access to the front of the bearing because of the inner drum, i'm a little lost in how to remove / replace the bearing. do i remove the large spider nut and just pull or do i have to dismantle the whole outer catchment drum. there seems to be a inner and outer bearing due to the distance from the spider to the inner drum. is it possible to get a expolded diagram of the set up before i start the repair? any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks dave kirk

if your hotpoint is less than 5 years old it will still be covered by the parts warranty the cost to you would be labour at a fixed price of ÂŁ85 if you decide to do it yourself you will need a drum spider and bearings and a front seal the job is not too difficult but there may be damage to the outer tub as well.
