How to reset my [radio, Blaupunkt, 3s4t-18c869-af in my '03 focus?

I instIlled my head unit blaupunkt and plugged everything up right but it won't even power on is this a security issue or what.2003 focus zx3

I had the exact same problem. This procedure worked perfectly except I put the CD in after putting all the cables back in. We pushed the button to add a station to a used Ford 2003 Focus with a Blaupunkt Stereo. The thing started flashing on and off with the audio going on and off. I'm glad the volume wasn't way up. The dam thing wouldn't stop even when the car was off. I had to pull it out and find the model number which led me here. Hopefully google will index this for other people. What a piece of junk the Blaupunkt is.

I had this same issue, Ford wanted $400 to replace the unit, said nothing could be done about it. Blaupunkt said it was a lost cause--get it replaced. The Ford owners manual mentions this, but it fails to mention step 2 below--without step 2, it wont work! :)

1. insert a cd into the stereo
2. disconnect power (pull the fuse)
3. connect power
--the stereo will begin to read the cd and will stop it from cycling off and on
4. use the menu buttons to select default reset.

That's it... Hope this gets to you in time!
