how do I change the drum bearing in a Whirlpool washing machine?

My Whirlpool washing machine has got very loud over the last few weeks, and I can feel play when I lift the drum. I took the back and top off and found a large plastic outer drum. Do I unclip all the clips and remove the rear section to gain access to the bearings? If so how much are the bearings likely to be.
