What does it mean when my phone wont work without the charger?

My phone (cricket txtm8) won't work unless the charger is plugged into it. I can't cut it on or anything without the charger in it. please help me.

my phone is driving me crazy I tried to plug it out to take my phone to school like I do all the time and it shut down and when I put I on the charger it turned right back on.it is making me really mad.
