Pretty much go in and see what is attached to it. First take your air cleaner cover off, usually a 1/4 turn knob just above the back handle. Then usually a large flat screwdriver will removed the Air Cleaner/filter itself. Then your going to need a 5/16" or 8mm Deep socket, 1/4" drive or a nut driver version. You will need to remove the fuel line and the return line. Disconnect the throttle linkage. Once you have done that, the Carb. may show resistance in coming off which is normal because your impulse line is attached to the carb but is removed/installed by removing/installing the carb. It is the hose that is sticking straight out that hooks up to the carb. That is it. It will probably be a Walbro or Tillitson carb so you will need the numbers off it it to get a kit for it. Now there are going to be parts in the kit that your carb will NOT use. Just take one side apart at a time and replace in the same order that you took it apart in with the EXACT Same diaphrams and screens. I have never had to remove the little aluminum soft plugs. Unless you are having real problems. If the saw has been sitting a while and had old gas in it your probably only going to need to replace the diaphrams and the screen. You will need to clean the varnish from the carb. I use Carb./choke cleaner if it is bad. If it isn't too bad I use an Ultrasonic cleaner with Simple Green with heat. Works great. Got mine at Harbor freight tools for $30.
