The battery door on my Fuji FinePix S1000fd will not close fully ?

I have the same problem.
Potential solutions: Screw, or celo tape, or rubber band?

Only properly if you can find an undamaged front case.
If you try to glue the tab back on the case( it's usually the one at the front that breaks) the force from the spring loaded batteries will be too much for it.
One other solution that I did for someone's S1000fd was to drill a shallow recess where the tab used to be and glue inplace a small nut off a model car then drill through the battery lid and secure the lid with a small black screw. It held in place fine.
