sky remote not working after batteries being changed?

sky remote not working after batteries being changed, as soon as batteries r changed the red light flashs 3 times and then nothing. any ideas? or is the remote done?

switch your box off at the mains and switch it back on or unplug it and plug it back in

I'm sure I had a similar problem a few years ago. If I remember rightly I unplugged the sky box from the supply for a minute or two then when I plugged it in again everything went back to normal. Worth a try anyway.
