My CD/Radio keeps saying AMP GRD and will only play for a couple of minutes?

My CD/Radio keeps saying 'AMP GRD ' and will only play for a couple of minutes and then it goes off and no sound although still playing. I turn it off and then it it wont go back on. Can anyone help me please? It is useless and don't know whether just to try and get a new one
